Working with official and alternative app stores

In an OpenRTB Bid Request, the app.storeurl parameter is used to pass the direct URL of a mobile app's page in its app store (such as Google Play or the App Store).

Parameter details

  • The parameter is located inside the App object, which replaces the Site object when a request comes from a mobile app.
  • Data type: string (URL).
  • The parameter enables DSPs to accurately identify the target app for the ad and retrieve additional metadata (category, ratings, and reviews) to inform their bidding decisions.

Sample JSON object:

{
  "app": {
    "id": "app123",
    "name": "Super Game",
    "bundle": "com.supergame.android",
    "storeurl": "https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=… ",
    "cat": ["IAB1"]
  }
}

Why this matters

  • Transparency and brand safety: Advertisers want to know exactly which app their creative will appear in.
  • Targeting: DSPs can use store information to improve targeting accuracy.
  • Validation: If bundle and storeurl don't match, DSPs might reject the request as suspicious.

Yandex's antifraud system treats traffic from unrecognized apps with caution. Because of this, if your app is hosted in an alternative store rather than Google Play or the App Store, be sure to include the active storeurl in the bid request.
