Terms of use for the Yandex.Contest service

1. General Provisions

1.1. Yandex (as referred in User Agreement for Yandex Services), (hereinafter - Yandex) offers the Internet user (hereinafter - the User) to use the Yandex.Contest service, available at: https://contest.yandex.ru (hereinafter - the Service).

1.2. The use of the Service is governed by these Terms and by documents:

Starting to use the Service/its individual functions, the User is deemed to have accepted these Terms and Conditions, as well as the terms of all the above documents, in full, without any reservations or exceptions. If the User disagrees with any of the provisions of these documents, the User is not entitled to use the Service.

1.4. These Terms, as well as the above documents, may be changed by Yandex without any special notice to the User, the new version of the Terms comes into force from the moment it is posted on the Internet at the address specified in this paragraph, unless otherwise provided by the new version of the Terms. The current version of the Terms is always on the webpage at: https://yandex.ru/legal/contest_termsofuse.

1.5. If Yandex has made any changes to these Terms in the manner provided for in clause 1.4. hereof, with which the User may not agree, the User shall be obliged to stop using the Service.

1.6. All currently existing functions of the Service, as well as any development of them and/or the addition of new ones, is the subject of these Terms.

1.7. By using the Service, the User agrees to receive messages of an informational nature. The User has the right to refuse to receive advertising messages by using the appropriate functionality of the Service or by following the instructions specified in the message received.

2. Registration and use of the functions of the Service

2.1. The Service provides the User with the functionality to participate in virtual competitions, contests, tests organized and conducted by partners of the Service (hereinafter referred to as the “Contests”), to complete the tasks of the Contest, to receive the results of the tasks of the Contests using an automatic system for monitoring the process of completing tasks and checking tasks, and use other functions of the Service.

2.2. Yandex and/or its affiliates, or another third party using the Service in accordance with the Agreement on providing access to the Yandex.Contest service (https://yandex.ru/legal/contest_offer) (hereinafter referred to as the Contest Organizer).

The Contest Organizers have the right to independently establish the conditions for the Contests, including any rules, limits and restrictions on the participation of Users in the Contests.

Information and contact details of the Contest Organizer are posted on the Service on the Contest page.

2.3. To use some functions of the Service, the User must be authorized in the Service using the User's current account on Yandex services or register a new user under the terms of the User Agreement for Yandex Services (https://yandex.ru/legal/rules), or use an account, whose data are provided by the Contest Organizer for access to participation in the Contest.

2.4. The rights to the design of the Service as a whole and its individual elements, the rights to the software of the Service, belong to Yandex. The rights to all materials included in the Service belong to their copyright holders.

By starting to use the Service, the User guarantees that he does not and will not carry out any actions aimed at circumventing the technical means of protection against unauthorized use of the above objects. Any copying, reproduction, processing, distribution, communication to the public, circumvention of technical protection measures, or other use outside the scope of the capabilities provided by the Service, as well as any use of them for commercial purposes is prohibited.

2.5. If there is a suspicion that a third party has taken possession of the User's registration data or is using it, the User is obliged to immediately inform the Service support service of this in any way provided by the functionality of the Service. At the same time, all actions within the framework of or using the Service under the User's account are considered to have been performed by the User himself, except for cases when the User, in the manner prescribed by this paragraph, notified the Service support service about unauthorized access to the Service using the User's account and/or any violation (suspicion of violation) of the confidentiality of their account access means.

2.6. The User grants Yandex a non-exclusive license to all materials uploaded by the User to the Service while participating in Contests (including, but not limited to: task solutions, source code, test answers, comments, and files) for the entire duration of the exclusive rights to such materials. This license includes Yandex's right to use the specified materials for any purposes, including:

  • storing, reproducing, distributing, and making available to the general public;
  • processing, modifying, adapting, and creating derivative materials;
  • using for educational, analytical, research, and commercial purposes;
  • incorporating into other Yandex services and products, including the "Yandex CodeRun" service;
  • transferring rights under this license to third parties, including Yandex's affiliated entities.

Granting this license does not require separate consent from the User and does not entail any payments to the User.

2.7. Yandex is entitled to collect, analyze, and use User data obtained in connection with the use of the Service, including:

  • data on Contest task performance results (solutions, source code, test answers, execution time, number of attempts);
  • technical data (device type, browser version, statistics on Service feature usage, location data);
  • User profile data (name, contact information, qualifications, education, and experience).

The aforementioned data may be used by Yandex for any lawful purposes, including but not limited to: improving Service quality, developing new products and services, conducting analytics, generating ratings, as well as for employment-related purposes — including assessing the User's professional skills, offering job vacancies, organizing interviews, and other actions related to potential employment or internship opportunities for the User within Yandex Group companies or partner organizations.

3. Limitation of Liability

3.1. The Service is provided by Yandex on an "as is" basis. Yandex does not guarantee the compliance of the Service with the goals and expectations of the User, the uninterrupted and error-free operation of the Service. Yandex is not responsible for the correctness of data entered by the User when using the Service and the consequences of such actions by the User.

The user must independently assess the risks and independently bear full responsibility for their actions related to the use of the Service. Yandex does not guarantee the reliability, accuracy, completeness and quality of information posted on the Service by the Organizers (if the Organizer is not Yandex), including compliance with the law and observance of the rights of third parties.

3.2. Yandex reserves the right to establish any rules, limits and restrictions (technical, legal, organizational or otherwise) on the use of the Service, and may change them at its sole discretion, without prior notice to the User. In cases where this is not prohibited by law, the specified rules, limits and restrictions may be different for different categories of Users.

Yandex has the right to make any changes to the structure and algorithms of the Service and its functions, to suspend the Service or its functions, to change or terminate the Service's functions without prior warning to the User and without the latter expressing consent to this.

3.3. Yandex reserves the right to restrict the User's access to the Service (or to certain functions of the Service) using his account or completely block the User's account in case of violation of these Terms or the documents to which they refer, or apply other measures to the User in order to comply with the requirements legislation or protection of the rights and legitimate interests of third parties.

3.4. If a third party is the Contest Organizer, Yandex has nothing to do with organizing the Contest, does not determine the rules for its conduct, the procedure and conditions for remuneration, and other conditions of the Contest. For all questions related to participation in the Contest, the User must contact directly its Organizers specified in the Service.

3.5. The User bears sole responsibility for the content of uploaded materials and warrants that they will not upload materials containing confidential information of third parties, trade secrets, personal data of other individuals without their consent, or any materials whose infringement of rights may result in liability for the User.

4. Miscellaneous

4.1. The Service is provided to the User for personal non-commercial use in an amount that corresponds to the level of the User's access to the Service at the time of using the Service

4.2. Regardless of the location of the User or his equipment, all relations connected with the use of the Service are subject to the law of the Russian Federation, and any claims or claims arising from the use of the Service must be filed and considered in court at the location of Yandex.

4.3. Yandex may process the User's personal information (including personal data) under the terms of the Privacy Policy posted on the Internet at: https://yandex.ru/legal/confidential, including the transfer of the User's personal information to the Contest Organizers for processing in order to ensure the participation of the User in the Contest.

The provisions of this clause regarding the processing and storage of the User's personal information apply to materials and information received or transmitted by the User in the process of using the Service and its functions.

The User is hereby notified, understands and agrees that when using the Service to provide the User with the functionality of the Service, the following information is automatically transmitted to Yandex: the type of operating system of the User's device, the version and browser identifier, statistics on the use of the Service functions, data on the location of the device (if applicable) and other technical information.

4.4. All questions, requests and claims related to the use/inability to use the Service should be sent through the feedback form at https://yandex.ru/support/contest/troubleshooting.html.
