Although radars and satellites send accurate data every 10 to 15 minutes, the latter only show cloud cover, not precipitation. Radars, on the other hand, do not cover every area and can sometimes send faulty data or go out of service.

The data from these sources isn’t always available even for major cities. In that case, our technology relies solely on user contributions.

What are meteorological models, and why do you need six of them?
Weather forecasts are generally made with the help of meteorological models. These models take the current weather data as an input and try to compute how it’s going to change. They incorporate many variables and atmospheric processes, like temperature, humidity, and atmospheric circulation. Meteum uses six weather models at once. Neural networks get their predictions, current weather data, and geographical factors as an input and then pick the most likely forecast for each location. On average, the resulting forecast ends up being more accurate than that produced by any particular model working alone.
