Installing the browser

System requirements

Before installation, make sure your computer meets the system requirements:

Intel Pentium 4 (or later)

RAM

512 MB minimum

Free disk space

400 MB minimum

Note. Support for Microsoft Windows XP and Vista was discontinued in April 2017.

Installing the browser

  1. Download the installation file from browser.yandex.ru/beta/.
  2. Open the downloaded file in your browser.
  3. Click Run in the security system's warning window.
  4. In the Fast browser with Yandex search window, you can disable the default options if necessary:
    • Make default browser.
    • Help make Yandex services better.
  5. Click Start using.

Reinstall and delete

Before reinstalling or deleting the browser we recommend that you sync your data. Then, your browser's main settings (bookmarks, passwords, apps, modules and autofill data) will be saved on the Yandex server and you will be able to use them again in the browser when you reinstall it.

To delete or re-install Yandex.Browser:

  1. Close all browser windows.
  2. Open the Control panel.
  3. Go to Programs → Programs and Features → Uninstall a program.
  4. In the Uninstall or change a program window, select the Yandex program.
  5. Click the Uninstall button at the top of the list.
  6. Choose an action in the window that opens:
    • Reinstall the browser. Note that all browser settings and data will be deleted.
    • Uninstall the browser. If you want to delete all browser settings and data, select the Also delete browser data option.
Note. In both cases data will be deleted from the local computer. However, if you have synced the data, it will be saved on the Yandex server. After you reinstall the browser and sync it with the server, the browser settings and data will be restored.

Automatic updates

Yandex.Browser is updated automatically by default. to protect your computer from new threats We do not recommend disabling automatic update of your browser, as this may expose your data to danger.
