Notifications from social networks and email

What kind of notifications are there?

classic Yandex.Browser can display personal pop-up notifications:

  • Yandex.Mail, if you got a new message.
  • From VK social network, if you have received a new message, comment, or friend request.
  • From other websites that you have granted permission to send notifications to you.

Actions with notifications

  • To go to the site that the notification came from, click the notification.
  • To hide the message's author and text in the notification so that only the subject is visible, click .
  • To set up notification parameters, click the icon.

Enabling notifications

Classic Yandex.Browser asks if you want to enable notifications the first time you set up a mailbox:

If you declined, classic Yandex.Browser will ask you again in 31 days.

Disabling notifications

To switch to “silent mode” (temporarily turn off all pop-up notifications):

  1. Click   → Settings.
  2. In the Notifications section, click Disable all notifications for three hours.

To completely disable pop-up notifications:

  1. Click   → Settings.
  2. In the Notifications section, click Notification settings.
  3. Go to the Yandex.Mail section.
  4. Turn off the Notifications enabled option.

How do I set up notifications?

  1. Click   → Settings.
  2. In the Notifications section, click Notification settings.
  3. Select the desired options in the Yandex.Mail section.

Option Description
Notifications enabled Enables or disables notification display.
Display content Enables or disables showing the message sender and text in notifications. If you don't want someone to see the content of incoming messages on your screen, turn off this option. After this, notifications will only show the message subject.
Choose username that will receive notifications Enables showing notifications for each separate Yandex username.
