Download a file

Note. Yandex Browser for Mobile checks archives and executable files for viruses and malware while they're downloading.
  1. Follow the link to download the file.
  2. Tap Yes.

You can monitor the file download progress in the Android notification bar (to open the bar, swipe down from the top of your smartphone screen). When the download is complete, a message appears in the notification bar.

Note. If you don't want to see such messages in the notification bar, open the settings, go to More settings, and turn off File download confirmation.

This opens a standard application for printing or saving the file as PDF.

Stop, resume, or cancel the download

  1. Open the Android notification bar (swipe down from the top of your smartphone screen).
  2. Find the name of the file being downloaded and tap Stop, then Continue or Cancel.

How do I open a downloaded file?

In the notification bar
  1. Open the Android notification bar (swipe down from the top of your smartphone screen).
  2. Tap the file name.
  3. Select the app to open the file with if you haven't assigned a default app for this file type.

When the file opens, the download notification won't be shown in the notification bar.

In downloads
Note. You can only open Downloads in tab view mode.
  1. Open any tab.
  2. Tap  in the browser (if you don't see the icon, press the menu button on your smartphone).
  3. Tap Downloads. A list of downloaded files opens in the Android download manager.
  4. Tap the file name.
  5. Select the app to open the file with if you haven't assigned a default app for this file type.

View downloads

Note. You can only open Downloads in tab view mode.
  1. Open any tab.
  2. Tap  in the browser (if you don't see the icon, press the menu button on your smartphone).
  3. Tap Downloads.

A list of downloaded files opens in the Android download manager.

Delete downloaded files

Note. You can only open Downloads in tab view mode.
  1. Open any tab.
  2. Tap  in the browser (if you don't see the icon, press the menu button on your smartphone).
  3. Tap Downloads. A list of downloaded files opens in the Android download manager.
  4. Select a file and delete it in the download manager.

Clear all downloads

To delete all downloaded files:

  1. Tap  in the browser (if you don't see the icon, press the menu button on your smartphone).
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Go to the Privacy section.
  4. Tap Clear data.
  5. Make sure that you've enabled the Downloads option.
  6. Deselect all the other options (if you only want to clear your downloads).
  7. Tap Clear data.
  8. Confirm deletion.

Problems with downloading

Yandex Browser blocks file downloads

The browser blocks a file download if it contains a malicious program. To learn more, see Checking downloaded files for viruses.

Download was interrupted

To resume the download:

  1. Open the Android notification bar (swipe down from the top of your smartphone screen).
  2. Find the name of the file being downloaded and tap Continue or Cancel.

If the download doesn't resume, try downloading the file again.

The download may also be affected by the antivirus that's installed on your smartphone. Temporarily disable the antivirus and download the file again.
