Dark theme

By default, elements of Yandex Browser for Mobile (for example, tabs or the SmartBox) are displayed on a light background. If you prefer a dark theme:

  1. Open a new tab.
  2. Tap   → .
  3. Select Dark theme.
  4. If you want to change the background for a new tab:
    1. Tap Select dark background.
    2. Select a photo or animation.
    3. Tap Use this background.

To turn on the light theme in Yandex Browser, tap   → and select Light theme.

To use the device's system theme in the browser, select Use system settings.

Dark theme for

You can enable the dark theme for the Yandex Home page, search results, and services:

In the Home page settings
Under Appearance of Yandex services, select Dark.
Note. To select the theme, log in using Yandex ID.
In the search results
  1. Scroll up the search results page.
  2. Tap the profile icon in the upper-right corner.
  3. Tap Appearance → Always dark.

Yandex Browser background

You can use images as the background:

From the Background gallery
  1. Open a new tab.
  2. Tap   → .
  3. Select a photo or animated image and tap Use this background.
From your tablet
  1. Open a new tab.
  2. Tap   → .
  3. Tap Upload from device.
  4. Select a photograph in an album.

Interface language

You can change the language of your Yandex Browser interface.

Note. The feature is available for devices running on iOS version 13.0 and higher. If you have an earlier version of iOS, you have to change the system language on the device.
  1. Open your device settings.
  2. Tap Yandex → Language.
  3. Select a language.
Restriction. If the browser doesn't support the language you selected, the interface is set to English.


I changed the theme in the browser settings, but the theme hasn't changed

The appearance of the Yandex Home page, search results, and services isn't linked to Yandex Browser. If you want to use the same theme as Yandex Browser, select System settings in the home page settings.

The theme hasn't changed

If the home page theme hasn't changed after you selected System settings for the home page appearance, you might have selected a light or dark theme in the browser settings.

Select System settings for Yandex Browser as well.
