Caller ID

The caller ID can tell you who's calling if the incoming number isn't on your contact list. Unknown numbers are run through a database that's regularly updated with user reviews, among other data. When you enable caller ID for the first time, the database is downloaded to your device. It takes up to 50 MB depending on the region. The database is downloaded only via Wi-Fi so that you don't waste your mobile traffic.

The numbers are run through the Yandex Business database as well. If a company is found in the Yandex Business database, you can see its name when you receive the call. If Yandex Bowser can't recognize a company, it will suggest a category the call may belong to. For example, “Possible ad”.

The caller ID is free. It has no access to the content of your calls and messages. Also available as a separate app.

The caller ID isn't available on tablets without a SIM card.

Why isn't call blocking enabled by default?
We give users a choice whether to rely on the Caller ID and block certain call categories automatically or decline or accept calls from recognized numbers manually.
I enabled call blocking, but I still get advertising calls. Why?
Some organizations (for example, banks) often use the same numbers for advertising calls and for important calls to their customers. In such cases, we can notify you that it may be an advertisement, but we don't block it because the company's clients may also be waiting for an important call.
