Library of negative keywords
The library of negative keywords is a folder where you can group frequently used negative keywords into special sets. You can create up to 30 sets and use them in multiple ad groups or campaigns at once. You can add sets of negative keywords in the unified performance campaign. Up to three sets of negative keywords can be assigned to one group. Library sets supplement the negative keywords specified in the group and affect ad impressions the same way.
How to create a set of negative keywords
In the left menu, choose Library → Negative keywords. On the page that opens, click Add set in the upper-left corner. Enter a name for the set and add negative keywords separated by commas or -
. The maximum number of characters (excluding spaces) is 4096.
You can also quickly create a new set based on the existing one. Go to the of the set and click Create based on. All negative keywords from the original set will be copied to the new set.
When editing a set of negative keywords in the library, changes are applied to all the groups that the set is associated with. Before editing, check the In groups column to see which groups the set is used in.

Use in an ad group
Link a set to a group
- You can link sets of negative keywords to one or more groups. On the group editing page under Related terms, in the Negative keywords field, click
→ Add sets..., then select one or more sets. Confirm your choice. The sets will be linked to the ad group. To link a set from the library to multiple groups at once, on the Groups tab, select the groups you need and click Actions → Edit groups or Negative keyword libraries. On the Configure sets of negative keywords page, select one or more sets, then click Link.
Link a set to a campaign
- You can link sets of negative keywords to one or more campaigns. On the campaign edit page, go to the advanced settings. Under Negative keywords, click
→ Add sets... and select up to three sets. Confirm your choice. The sets will be linked to your campaign. To link a set from the library to multiple campaigns at once, on the campaigns page, select the campaigns you need and click Actions → Negative keyword sets. On the Configure sets of negative keywords page, select one or more sets, then click Link.
View the list of linked sets
- You can view the list of sets linked to a group on the group edit page.
- You can view the list of sets linked to a campaign on the campaign edit page.
See which groups a set is used in
- In the left menu, choose Library → Negative keywords. On the page that opens, in the In groups column, go to the list of groups that the set is used in.
Unlink a set from a group
- In the Groups tab, select the groups you need, then click Actions → Edit groups. On the Configure sets of negative keywords page, select the desired sets and click Unlink.
Unlink a set from a campaign
- On the campaign edit page, go to the Negative keywords section and delete the set. To unlink a set from the library from multiple campaigns at once, on the campaigns page, select the campaigns you need and click Actions → Negative keyword libraries. On the Configure sets of negative keywords page, select one or more sets, then click Unlink.
Deleting a set from the library
You can only delete from the library the sets that are not used in any groups. In the In groups column on the library page, check whether the set is linked to any groups.
If the set is not used in any groups, select Delete in its settings. If the set is used, go to the list of groups it is linked to and delete it from the groups. You can then delete the set of negative keywords from the library.
