Step 3. Create ads

Select the ad type and make design settings. In total, a group can have up to 50 ads, including no more than one product ad and up to three combinatorial ads, with the rest being playable ads and image ads.

  1. Specify a tracking link for the app.

    • If your campaign's goal is “Attract new users”, fill in the Deferred deeplink field based on your app's URI scheme if necessary. This ensures users land directly in the intended app section after they have installed your app.

    • If your campaign's goal is “Retargeting”, add a deeplink based on your app's URI scheme. This ensures users land directly in the intended app section when they click your ad.

    • If your campaign's goal is Attract new users, you can add a Custom app page from Google Play and the App Store. When clicking the ad, new users usually land on the app's main store page. To direct them to a custom page, enter its full URL.

    • We recommend adding a Link for impression attribution. This allows you to track conversions from users who saw an ad but didn't click it. Make sure that impression attribution is enabled in your Mobile Measurement Platform settings.

  2. You can add up to seven title options and up to three text options: Yandex Direct will automatically create ads from them and show the most effective ones more often.

We recommend adding as many options for each element as possible. This makes creatives more diverse, allowing Yandex Direct to test a wider range of approaches.

  3. Add up to 5 images and up to 3 videos to your ad. Images must not contain any text. You can use any image that is at least 450 × 450 pixels, but we recommend that you choose a JPG or PNG image that is between 1080 and 5000 pixels, with a maximum file size of 10 MB.

Add images in different formats, such as with aspect ratios of 16 : 9, 9 : 16, and 1 : 1 and resolutions of 1778 × 1000, 1000 × 1778, and 1000 × 1000 pixels. Images are used in all Yandex Advertising Network ad formats. They alternate, with the most effective ones shown more frequently.

Video: maximum 100 MB, from 5 to 60 seconds.

In the preview area, you can see how an ad with different creatives will appear on different sites.

  4. The action button automatically appears in ads with impressions in search results and the Yandex Advertising Network. Default button text:

    • For campaigns with the Attract new users goal: “Install”.

    • For campaigns with the Retargeting goal: “Open”.

Choose an appropriate button text for the Yandex Advertising Network under Button. You can use bulk actions to set the same button text for multiple combinatorial ads.

Impression statistics for ads with buttons are available in the Report Wizard. To analyze the number of clicks on the button, select the cross section Click position → Button.

  2. Add a creative.

    • To run an image ad, upload a JPG, PNG, or GIF image. Make sure that the file meets the technical requirements.

    • To run Playable Ads, upload an HTML5 banner. HTML5 banners must be ZIP files that contain one HTML file and JavaScript, JSON, CSS, JPEG, GIF, PNG, or SVG files. Make sure that the file meets the technical requirements.

Available only for campaigns with the Attract new users goal.

Warning

You can create a product ad only from a feed. Learn more about the feed requirements. Before launching the campaign, upload your feed to the library and wait for it to be validated. This way, you can select the feed immediately when creating an ad.

If you already have a feed with up-to-date prices and a product list, then you can adapt it to promote products from an app. For the <offer> element in url, specify a standard tracking link or a tracking link in OneLink format. Adding a deferred deeplink to your tracking link allows you to redirect users to your product profile immediately after installing the app. The links in the feed must lead to the app for which you're creating the campaign.

  1. Under Products, specify an existing feed from the library or add a new file and wait for it to be validated.

Advertising materials that you provide, including feed data (product name, image, price, description) can be used to place information about your offers in various Yandex services. This is free. To opt out, write to our customer service department.

  2. Under Filter, choose which products you want to use and which ones to exclude when generating ads. The criteria are joined using the “AND” operator. Products meeting all the criteria will be selected for serving.

You can also use custom elements in filters.

When you are setting up the filter parameters, Yandex Direct checks in real time how many offers match the selected criteria. Use the suggestion from Yandex Direct to avoid situations when your ads stop because no product matches the filter criteria.

    Example

Ad labeling

Leave the checkbox active to allow Yandex Direct to automatically generate a description for the state register (ERIR) based on the specified ad titles and texts. Clear the checkbox if you want to enter the description manually.
