Traffic accident during an order
The life and health of drivers and passengers on trips using Yandex.Taxi are insured.
If you and a passenger were injured in a traffic accident:
- Call 112 and report what happened.
- Wait for the traffic police and emergency services.
- Find out from the traffic police where and when the accident will be officially investigated.
- Contact us and we'll answer all your questions and help you receive an insurance payout.
Insurance for drivers and passengers comes into effect as soon as you tap the Start button in the app, and ends when you tap Complete.
Insurance does not apply in the event of gross traffic violations. Our Support team can explain all the other details.
Now all rides with Yandex.Taxi and Uber are insured in Russia. Insurance is in effect when you're on an order and transporting a user. Insurance is free for drivers and you don't need to activate anything separately.
Insurance payouts can reach a maximum of ₽2,000,000.
What does insurance cover?
The life and health of everyone in the vehicle during the accident. If you accepted a Yandex.Taxi or Uber order and were involved in an accident while transporting a passenger, the insurance company will pay compensation even if you are to blame for the accident.
Please note that vehicle damage isn't covered by ride insurance.
What to do at the scene of an accident
— If you and a passenger got into a traffic accident involving victims, call 112 and report what happened.
— Wait for the traffic police and emergency services to arrive. If you were evacuated in an ambulance, the hospital staff must inform the traffic police that you were taken away from the scene of the accident.
— Find out from the traffic police where and when the accident will be officially investigated.
What to do to receive an insurance payout
— Contact the Yandex.Taxi Support team. One of our representatives will forward your claim to the insurance company.
— Follow the instructions from the insurance company.
— If all the required documents have been properly submitted, you will receive payment within two weeks.
Required documents
— Insurance claim (the insurance company will send you the template).
— Confirmation of traffic injury, and the relevant extract from your medical history or medical record (provided in the emergency room or clinic).
— Traffic police incident documentation (report, judge ruling or decision).
— In the event of light injuries, a simplified payout procedure is used where all you need is to submit an insurance claim and the first page of your passport. You most likely won't need confirmation from the traffic police or a medical history extract.
— The insurance company may request additional information. Please try and adhere to all of their requirements. If the insurance company considers your case suspicious, payout may be delayed.
Original copies of documents aren't required. Instead, photographs of them can be emailed to the address provided by the insurance company.
In what event will the insurance company not pay out?
A driver won't receive an insurance payout if they grossly violated traffic rules (for example, ran a red light, drifted into oncoming traffic, or fled the scene of the accident).
