In the left-hand panel, open Goals and click Create goal in the top right corner or follow the direct link.
Name the goal.
If the new goal is a subgoal of an existing one, click Specify parent goal under the title. Start typing the goal name and select the option you need from the list that appears.
Enter a goal description below the name. The goal description should make it clear what you want to achieve.
Add Key results of the goal. For each key result, you can specify the assignee, deadline, and measurement method.
Fill out the fields in the right-hand section:
Deadline: Deadline for achieving the goal. You can specify a particular date or quarter.
Lead: Employee responsible for achieving the goal. By default, the Lead and Author fields contain the name of the user who created the goal.
Customers: Employees who set the goal for the company or department.
Participants: Employees involved in the process of achieving the goal.
Key results are time-bound quantitative metrics that are used to measure progress toward the goal.
Click below the goal description under Key results.
Enter a name for the key result.
Set up a progress Measurement method:
By value
By result
You can use this measurement method for quantitative results. The progress bar helps you track your progress on a key result. To display progress, specify the required values:
At the start: Starting value from which progress is tracked. For example, when the goal was created, there were two support agents on your team.
Target: Target value. For example, you plan to expand your team to 10 support agents.
Now: Current value. For example, you currently have three new support agents on probation, which brings the current value of this key result to five team members.
To change the values, click the key result.
Key result progress can be negative if the metric has fallen below the initial value, or, conversely, exceed 100% if the current value surpasses the target.
You can use this method for measuring results that only take two values: Achieved or Not achieved.
You can set the value to Result achieved right away or later.
Specify the person responsible for the key result and its completion deadline.
Click Save.
Tracking progress
To see how close the team is to achieving a goal, use the Progress indicator. The progress value is calculated in percent as the arithmetic mean of progress for subgoals and key results.
Calculation example:
Suppose you have a goal that contains two key results and two subgoals. Each of these four elements contributes 25% to the overall goal progress: 100/4=25
Example of calculating the overall goal progress:
One of the key results was fully achieved, adding 25% to the overall goal progress.
One of the subgoals is 13% complete, adding 3% to the overall goal progress: 0.13×0.25≈0.03 (or 3%).
The second key result and the second subgoal have not been started, adding 0% to the overall progress.
Summing up these values, we get the overall goal progress of 28%.
Adding links
To projects
Link projects that are aligned with the goal.
To link a goal to a project in Yandex Tracker:
Under the goal description, click Add link → With project.
To create a new project, select New, enter the project name, and click Create.
To add an existing project, select Existing. Start typing the project name and pick the option you need from the list that appears.
To goals
Using links, you can set up a goal hierarchy. For example, break down the company's major goals into subgoals of different divisions and teams.
To add a link to another goal:
Under the goal description, click Add link → With goal.
Select a link type:
Depends on: Goal to which the current goal is linked.
Blocks: Goal whose progress is blocked by the current goal.
Parent goal: Higher-level goal for which the current one becomes a subgoal. There can only be one parent goal.
To create a new goal, select New. Enter the goal name, set the deadline, and click Create.
To add an existing goal, select Existing. Start typing the goal name and select the option you need from the list that appears.
Adding metrics
You can embed metrics (Yandex Tracker widgets) on the goal page. They will appear in a separate section named Metrics.
To add a metric:
Select a widget on the dashboard and click → Copy link for iframe in the top right corner.
Open the entity page and click Metric.
Enter the metric name. This name will appear in the widget header.
Below, paste the link to the widget.
Click Add.
You can edit or delete added metrics. To do this, click in the top right corner of the metric and select an action from the menu.
Updating a goal's status

As a result, a new comment with a list of subgoals will appear in the editing area. For each goal, it will specify its status, date, and most recent comment.
The final comment won't include:
Comments added more than a month ago.
Responses to the previous comments in subgoals.
Edit the final comment if needed.
In the comments section, you can use text markup and attach images and files.
