Query groups
By default, several query groups are available in Yandex.Webmaster:
- All queries — A list of search queries for which your site was shown in the top 50 Yandex search results.
- Uploaded — Search queries that were added manually.
- Saved — Special group. Allows you to track data on certain requests (for example, to track changes in position for key phrases). Information about queries from this group is available on the Search query statistics page.
You can add your own groups of queries which you use most frequently.
To create a group, you need to copy the search queries from the list of all queries. There are several ways to do this:
- Select the All queries group and check the needed queries.
- At the bottom of the page click the Copy chosen search queries into group button.
- In the window that appears, enter the group name and click the Save button. The new group is displayed in the Query groups list.
- Under the Query group list, click the create group button.
- In the window that appears, enter the group name and click the Save button. The new group is displayed in the Query groups list.
- Select the All queries group and check the needed queries.
- At the bottom of the page click the Copy chosen search queries into group button.
- In the window that appears, select the group name from the drop-down list and click the Save button. Queries are displayed in the selected group.

- [mobile phones]
- [touch phones]
- [online phones store]
- [buy a mobile phone]
- [buy a Samsung phone]
- [mobile phone store]
Imagine you're promoting an online store selling phones. You are interested in requests about mobile phone models, manufacturers, purchase and characteristics:
You can filter these queries by the word “phone”, create a group, and view statistics.
If you have just created a new group, statistics for this group will not be displayed. Wait a few days for the data to accumulate.
If necessary, you can manage the group you created by clicking :
- Rename.
- Delete.
- If a group has a filter, it can be saved for another group.
Download your own queries
You can add queries that are missing from the list. You can upload phrases to the Saved group and to the groups created manually.
There are several ways to upload queries:
- As a text.
- With a .txt file.
Once you uploaded the phrases they are displayed in the group you added them to. The list of phrases will be automatically filtered by theadded manually value. In this mode, you can delete an added query. To see all phrases in the group, choose the by filter value.
Also, added queries are displayed in the Uploaded group.
Filtering queries
Queries can be filtered by parameters (for example, number of impressions in search results, number of clicks, query text, and so on).
For example, let's filter out requests by the page address and generate a list of queries for which the page snippet is shown in search results:
- Click the Add filter link.
- Choose the URL filter from the dropdown list and select the contains value. Enter a URL part in the field (for example, /category/).
- Click the Filter button.
By default, the list shows queries. To display page URLs in the list, click URL.
You can save the specified filter to an existing group or create a new group for it by clicking the Save button.
Adding multiple filters
You can apply several filters to choose the queries from the list. Filters are added using the “AND” operator. Thus, each phrase in the results meets all conditions at once.
Additionally, in the Query text filter you can specify conditions with “OR”operator, using the '|' symbol. For example, if you enter webmaster|Yandex, the result will show the phrases that contain at least one word specified in the filter.
FAQ
This may be due to changes in the ranking algorithms: new ranking factors are added from time to time, outdated ones are removed, and the weight of factors changes.
In addition, the site quality affects its position in the search results. Check the website for restrictions on the Site diagnostics page in Yandex.Webmaster.
The position on the Managing query groups page is the average website position for the given query over the last 7 days that is available on the Search query statistics page.
To view information about a query group for a certain time period, choose the time and the query group on the Statistics page.
The page shows information about queries that most often had the website in the top 50 positions in search results. Perhaps there are no such queries for your site yet. Also, if you just added your website to Yandex.Webmaster, collecting the data will take some time. This usually it takes a week.
If there is no data about clicks, most likely, there were no clicks on your site from the search results in the chosen period. A large number of impressions does not guarantee a large number of clicks. If there are no clicks despite the large number of impressions, make sure your site is presented on the search results page. It should have a header and a snippet that correspond to the query.
Query data in a newly created group will be shown after the information for the day is processed.
Position in search results depends on many factors and is not permanent. Try to find your site in other adjacent positions. Impressions and clicks that have position starting from 50 are excluded from processing.
