Widgets
A widget is a small block on your device home screen that gives you quick access to Yandex services, the weather forecast, and other information.
Widget types
Yandex Search (half screen)
A search bar (half-screen width).
To change the widget color:

On the home screen, tap
(profile picture). - Tap App settings → Widgets → Widget settings → Widget 2 × 1.
- Select a color scheme.
Yandex Search (full screen)
A search bar and Smart camera (fullscreen width).
To change the widget color:

On the home screen, tap
(profile picture). - Tap App settings → Widgets → Widget settings → Widget 2 × 1.
- Select a color scheme.
You can also add a search bar to the notification bar or to the device's lock screen. For installation and setup instructions, go to Search bar.
Yandex Weather
The widget shows the current temperature outside and the hourly forecast for the day.
Set up a widget
Change location

Add the widget to the home screen.

Open the widget settings any way you like:
In the Yandex app

On the home screen, tap
(profile picture). - Tap App settings → Widgets → Widget settings → Yandex Weather.
On the home screen
Under the widget, tap Settings.

Turn on automatic location detection or select a city manually.
Change the background

Add the widget to the home screen.

Open the widget settings any way you like:

(profile picture). - Tap App settings → Widgets → Widget settings → Yandex Weather.
On the home screen
Under the widget, tap Settings.

Choose a background. If you choose the dark or light background, you can also adjust the transparency of the widget.
You can change the widget background and your location.
Yandex Search (large)
Yandex Search, battery level, date, time, outdoor temperature, and traffic information.

Games
Quick access to Yandex Games.
Add a widget to the screen
- On your device home screen, tap and hold an empty space.
- Tap Widgets.
- In the widget list, select Yandex.
- Choose a Yandex widget that you like in the thumbnail list and drag it to a free area on the screen.
Remove a widget from the screen
- Tap and hold the widget.
- Tap Delete.
- Confirm deletion.
Why do I have multiple identical widgets?
Widgets are built into many Yandex mobile apps, for example, Yandex Disk, Yandex Maps, Yandex Navigator, and Yandex Keyboard. For this reason, several identical widgets may be present on the device at the same time.
You can remove the widgets that you don't want.
Why isn't a widget updated?
Here are the most common reasons why widgets don't show updated information:
No internet connection
Check if your device is connected to the internet.
Power saving mode is enabled
Power saving mode prevents widgets from updating in background mode.
Open your device settings and make sure that this mode is off or turn it off. Power saving mode may also turn on automatically when your device battery is low.
You need to allow the app to run in the background
Note
The path may vary depending on your device model.
For the widget to update properly, you need to grant it a permission to run in the background. To do this:
- Open device settings and select Apps → Yandex → Advanced → Battery.
- On a mobile device, make sure there are no restrictions on background activity. On a tablet, turn on Allow background activity.
