Banner Row

Banner Row is a stripe banner that shows an image or an HTML creative. It's designed to be placed at the top of a page above all of site content.

The banner isn't fixed. When the user scrolls the page, the banner is scrolled along with the main site content.

Tip

We recommend placing this banner above all the content on top of the page after the <body> tag. The banner automatically adds margins before the main content without overlaying it.

Format advantages

  • It creates an additional placement without the need to allocate a large area for ads in the site's layout.

  • It's easy to design and place: you can create a banner from a static image and fill its container's background with the color that dominates in the image.

Image requirements

  • Use high-resolution images. This substantially improves banner quality on mobile devices, even though the banner will load slower.
  • The format stretches and takes up the entire width of the screen, so place the elements of the ad creative in the center of the banner.
  • We recommend compressing the image file using a service like TinyPNG. This service works with both PNGs and JPEGs.
  • Acceptable image formats: JPEG, JPG, WEBP, PNG, and GIF.
  • Maximum file size: 300 KB.

Adding a banner to Adfox

Step 1. Add a template and create a placement

  1. Go to Settings → Banner types and select a group of types:

    • Predefined → Nondimensional to use a predefined banner type.

    • Custom → Nondimensional to create a custom banner type.

  2. Select the desired type or create a new one. Next, on the banner type page, go to the Templates tab and click + Use preset. Select the Banner Row [context] template from the list.

  3. Once you've added the template to the banner type, create a placement with the selected banner type.

Step 2. Add a banner

  1. Create a campaign or select an existing one and proceed to creating a banner.

  2. Select the desired banner type and the Banner Row [context] template.

  3. Set the banner parameters:

    1. Link TARGET: Determines the window where the link opens:

      • top: Current window.
      • _blank: New window or tab, depending on the browser settings.
    2. Tracking pixel link: By default, the Adfox //banners.adfox.ru/transparent.gif pixel is used. If you want to count impressions in a third-party system, delete the Adfox pixel and provide a different link.

    3. Transition URL: Provide a link to the advertiser's site. For the click to work correctly, make sure that the link includes the protocol (http:// or https://).

    4. HTML5 code of the creative: Upload a ZIP archive with the project or paste an HTML5 code. Learn more about preparing the code in HTML5 creative requirements.

    5. Image: Upload an image or provide a link to a file.

    6. Image background color: The color of the container background. Two formats are allowed: #f0f0f0 or rgba(0,0,0,0.4).

If the image doesn't stretch in width and is static, we recommend that you specify the dominant image color for filling in the container. To make sure the background is homogeneous along the edges, add a color gradient. By default, the banner background is transparent.

    7. Banner width (in px or 100%): Specify the banner width.

    8. Banner height (in px): Specify the banner height.

    9. Setting up an ad tag:

      • In the Ad label list, select Ad or Social ad, and the label will be added to the banner. If the creative's design already includes the label, you can keep “Disabled” in the drop-down list.

        Note

Adding the “Social ad” label doesn't automatically define the creative content as social ad. To label creative content as a social advertisement in the state register, select Social ads contract for the corresponding contract with the end advertiser.

      • In the Domain field, specify the advertiser domain, and it will be added to the label: “Ad | example.com” or “Social ad | example.com” (only if you select Ad or Social ad in the drop-down list).

    10. To add a token to a non-clickable banner, enable the Show banner menu option in the banner settings. When the banner is served, the menu icon  will be displayed in the upper right corner of it. When a user clicks this icon, the advertiser information and the copy token button appear (if ad register is enabled for the banner and a third-party token is specified).

The banner menu contains a link to the rules for using recommendation technologies. That is necessary to comply with paragraph 3, section 1, article 10.2-2 of Federal Law No. 149-FZ On information, information technologies, and information protection", dated July 27, 2006.

      Note

If a banner is non-clickable (the Transition URL field is not filled in) and it is to be added to the ad register, be sure to show the banner menu. This is the only way to make the token available when serving the banner.

    11. Settings for Russian ad register: The section is only available if the Submit data to state register procedure is selected in the campaign settings. Fill in the fields in this section to register the creative in the Yandex advertising data operator. The creative is assigned a token automatically.

      Note

If a specific banner doesn't need to be added to the ad register, select Do not submit data to state register.
