Dictionary and spelling correction
Yandex Keyboard can remember the words you type most often, suggest word choices as you type, and correct typos.
To enable dictionaries and auto-correction:
-
Tap and hold the
icon next to the space bar and select
-
Tap Top panel and enable the option Emoji suggestions.
-
Go back to Settings, tap Personalisation, and enable the option User dictionaries.
-
Go back to Settings, tap Text input, and enable the option Autocorrection.
To offer better suggestions, Yandex Keyboard collects input data anonymously and in encrypted form. Yandex only uses data for picking suggestions. You can disable the option:
-
Tap and hold the
icon next to the space bar and select
-
Go to Personalization.
-
Disable the Make Y.Keyboard better option.
Add words to the dictionary
If you use slang or other non-standard words, Yandex Keyboard may consider them typos and suggest corrections. Add this vocabulary to the dictionary, and Yandex Keyboard will include your words in suggestions along with other words.
Automatically
Type a new word once and submit. The word will be added to your personal dictionary and will start appearing in the suggestions after a while.
Manually
-
Open device settings.
-
Go to General → Keyboard → Text Replacement.
-
Tap
-
Type a word and tap Save.
If you've added an offensive word to the dictionary, and Yandex Keyboard still doesn't recognize it, that means that you have enabled blocking offensive language.
To disable this option:
-
Tap and hold the
icon next to the space bar and select
-
Disable Block offensive words.
Tip
Enter a letter combination in the Shortcut field, and it will be automatically replaced with the entire phrase. For example, "brb" → "Be right back".
