Widgets
A widget is a small block on your device home screen that gives you quick access to Yandex services, the weather forecast, and other information.
Widget types
1 х 1 (Games)
A button that opens Yandex Games. No settings.
2 х 1 (search bar)
A search bar that takes up the whole width of the screen or a half of it.
To change the widget color:

Tap
(profile picture). - Go to App settings → Widgets → Widget settings → 2х1 widget.
- Select a color scheme.
4 х 1
Available in black or white. A search bar. There's also a Smart camera widget. No settings.
You can also add a search bar to the notification bar or to the lock screen of your device. For installation and setup instructions, go to Search bar.
4 х 2 (Weather)
This widget shows the temperature outside and today's hourly weather forecast.

4 х 3
This widget provides quick access to Yandex search, shows traffic information and battery charge, and displays the date, time, and hourly weather forecast for the day.

This widget provides quick access to Yandex search and displays the date, time, and weather forecast for the day.
You can change the widget size, add new informers, or move them. To learn how to set up the widget, see Android widget in Help.
4 х 4 (detailed)
This widget provides quick access to Yandex search and other services and shows the USD and EUR exchange rates, traffic jams, the date, time, and weather forecast for the day.

Add a widget to the screen
- On your device home screen, tap and hold an empty space.
- Tap Widgets.
- In the widget list, select Yandex Start.
- Choose a Yandex widget that you like in the thumbnail list and drag it to a free area on the screen.
Remove a widget from the screen
- Tap and hold the widget.
- Tap Delete.
- Confirm deletion.
Why do I have multiple identical widgets?
Widgets are built into many Yandex mobile apps, for example, Yandex Disk, Yandex Maps, Yandex Metro, Yandex Navigator, and Yandex Keyboard. Widgets are also available as standalone Android apps. For this reason, several identical widgets may be present on the device at the same time.
You can remove the widgets that you don't want.
Why isn't a widget updated?
Here are the most common reasons why widgets don't show updated information:
No internet connection
Check if your device is connected to the internet.
Power saving mode is enabled
Power saving mode prevents widgets from updating in background mode.
Open your device settings and make sure that this mode is off or turn it off. Power saving mode may also turn on automatically when your device battery is low.
You need to allow the app to run in the background
Note
The path may vary depending on your device model.
For the widget to update properly, you need to grant it a permission to run in the background. To do this:
- Open your device settings and go to Apps → Yandex Start → More → Battery.
- On a mobile device, make sure there are no restrictions on background activity. On a tablet, turn on Allow background activity.
