Power saving mode

When a device is used a lot, its battery runs out quickly. The battery capacity also decreases with time: the longer you use a device, the faster its battery dies. Power saving mode saves battery power, and gives you extra time of device use.

How does power saving mode work?

In this mode, Yandex Start:

  • Reduces activity of the background tabs.
  • Enables the reader mode.
  • Uses hardware video codecs instead of VP9 and VP8.
  • Turns off the parallax effect for the background upon opening a new tab.
  • Disables smooth animation of web page elements.
  • Disables interface animations.
  • Takes other actions to optimize power consumption.
