Exhibition of technological art: a modern look
About
ITMO University’s Art & Science Center exhibit is the first modern art exhibit at the Yandex Museum. Expressive mediums help artists reveal different aspects of the technologies that form the basis of the modern world.

Human senses form an integral system of interaction with the world. In turn, a microphone and a recorder used for reading and transmitting information become the sensory receptors of smart devices. People and technology build a communication system through one principle.

Understanding a person’s place in the digital world—including identity, body, and society—is one of the main issues for artists. Virtual environments are people’s main habitat, where we spend an increasing part of our lives. Artists are trying to make sense of these global changes.

They examine the connection between humans and technology through various images and means of expression, from classic electronics to neural networks and virtual reality. In these works, a person acts as both a material and a virtual object, offering a sensory experience through the digital layer.
