Email notifications

For fast order processing, Yandex Direct can send you messages concerning the status of your advertising campaign.

By default, the notifications are sent to the address you provided when registering with Yandex. Optionally, you can change the email address. You can also enter a separate email address for each campaign.

Change the notification address

The email address for notifications needs to be changed in the user settings and on the campaign edit page.

  • User settings: In the side menu, click the login and select My settings. On the Account tab, in the Email notifications field, add the new address and save the changes. You can specify different email addresses for service notifications and finance notifications. If your email address is already registered for notifications, select it. Notifications are not sent to all registered email addresses, only to the one which is currently selected.

  • Campaign edit page: Under Advanced settings → Notifications → Email notifications, enter a new email address and confirm the changes.

Configure notifications for two different addresses

To receive notifications at two different email addresses, you can enter one of them as your main one in the "User settings", and the other one on the campaign edit page.

This can be done, as described above, in the Change email for notifications section.

Unsubscribing from Yandex Direct notifications

It is technically impossible to fully unsubscribe from Yandex Direct notifications. We believe that it's vital to promptly notify advertisers about account transactions and results of ad moderation in order to ensure that their campaigns are running smoothly.

What notifications can be disabled?

You can disable the following types of notifications:

  1. Notifications about stopping upon reaching daily budget.

  2. Notifications on preparedness of XLS reports.

    On the campaign edit page under Advanced settings  → Notifications, disable the options you don't need and confirm the changes.

Yandex Direct Telegram bot

Add the Telegram bot to stay abreast of your campaign performance.

Only the chief representative of the Yandex Direct account and only in the account registered in the Russian domain zone direct.yandex.ru can add the bot and manage notifications.

To add the bot:

  1. In the side menu on the left, click your username → Account and notifications.

  2. Log in to use your Telegram account. Under Telegram notifications on the Account tab, click Log in via Telegram.

  3. Enter your phone number and click Next.

  4. Open Telegram and click Accept. It may take some time to add the bot. When it is ready, it will send a notification.

  5. Open the main menu of the bot: click Menu or type /start and select the desired action.

Control the balance

You can view your account balance directly in the messenger.

Get ad campaign statistics

In the bot menu, select a username and ad campaign.

Select the period you need statistics for: month, week, or day.

Set up notifications

For example, if there is a debt (overdraft) on a shared account and the corresponding invoice has been issued, you will receive a notification three days and one day before the due date and on the day it is past due.

You can set up the following notifications:

  • Weekly statistics
  • Insufficient balance
  • Money will run out in one day
  • Money will run out in three days
  • Account debt
  • Deferred payment in one day
  • Deferred payment in three days

Improve advertising performance

If new recommendations are available, Recommendations with the icon will appear in the bot menu.

Yandex Direct automatically checks URLs for accessibility whenever you create or edit an ad. If a page is inaccessible or doesn't respond for more than 7 seconds, you will see an error notification. An ad containing this link cannot be saved until the issue with your site has been resolved.

If the URL specified in the Web Link field leads to tags, in the ad it will be replaced with the domain of the first redirect after the tag. The domain you specify will be displayed in your ad in all other instances.

During moderation of advertising material, Yandex Direct's robots may download the page that is indicated in the Link to site field, or the final redirect page, even if it is prohibited from being indexed in robots.txt or meta tags. If there's a large amount of advertising material on your site, the restriction of the Crawl-delay directive may also be exceeded.

The Yandex robot with useragent Mozilla/5.0 (compatible; YaDirectFetcher/1.0; +http://yandex.com/bots) is used to identify the subject matter of the ad to be displayed in the ad networks (YAN and ad exchanges). To prevent this, you can restrict access to some or all of your site using the following Yandex Direct robots.text directive:

User-agent: YaDirectFetcher
Disallow: /

The Yandex robot with useragent Mozilla/5.0 (compatible; YaDirectFetcher/1.0; Dyatel; +http://yandex.com/bots) is used to check the website availability.

A single address and phone number for all of the ads in a campaign

Yes, you can do this on the campaign edit page. You can also delete all identical contact information for all ads at once.

How to compare multiple version of an ad, so as to choose the best one

Create a group consisting of different ads, but with all the same keywords and bid amounts. The system will display all the ads from the group in random order, and after some time it will display the ads with a higher CTR forecast for the specific impression more often.

How to edit a group of ads

Edit ad group:

  1. On the Campaigns page, select the campaigns and click the Groups tab. In this tab, you can edit all your ad groups regardless of their status. Click Edit.

    On the Edit ad group page, change regions and targeting criteria.

  2. Only for Text & Image ads in unified performance campaigns. Select a campaign and click the Edit link.

    Select the groups for editing and click Actions → Edit or  → Edit.

Editing ads within a group

Edit ads inside the group:

  1. On the Campaigns page, select the campaigns and click the Ads tab. Click Edit.

  2. Only for Text & Image ads in unified performance campaigns. Select a campaign and click the Edit link.

    Select the ads for editing and click Actions → Edit or  → Edit.

Add an ad to a group

There are three ways to add an ad to a group:

  • Through the menu:

    1. Нажмите Add → Ads.

    2. Select a campaign and ad group.

    3. Click Create ad.

  • Using the Ads tab:

    1. On the My campaigns page, select the campaigns and click the Groups tab.

    2. Select the groups you want to edit and click the Ads tab.

    3. Click Add ad.

  • In the campaign navigation menu (only for Text & Image ads in the unified performance campaign):

    1. Select a campaign and click the Edit link.

    2. Select a group and click  → Add an ad.

How to stop, launch, or archive ads

To apply an action to **all the ads in the group, **in the table header, enable the option that selects all ads. Click Actions and select the desired action.

To perform an action **with individual ads in a group, **select several desired ads and click Actions.

The action will apply only to those ads where it is permitted, e.g., you may archive only ads that are discontinued and drafts.

Note

Ads that have been discontinued for more than 30 days are archived automatically.

To stop or start ads, you can use separate buttons at the bottom.

How to delete campaigns or ad groups

There are two ways to delete a campaign or ad group:

  • To the left of the campaign's or ad group's name, click  → Delete.

  • Select a campaign or ad group and click Actions → Delete.

If the option is unavailable, it means that the campaign or ad group was active at some point (that is, the status was “Campaign in Progress”) and it's not possible to delete them. In this case, you can move campaigns that are no longer running to the Archive so that they don't distract you from managing your active ads. To do this, click Actions → Archive.

An ad campaign may be archived if

  • it is discontinued

  • activation is complete.

An ad campaign is archived automatically if

  • there were no impressions for more than 30 days

  • the ads in the campaign have not been edited for more than 30 days

Campaigns that were created more than a year ago and have never been launched are automatically deleted.

In most cases, the campaigns being automatically removed are currently stored in your archive as drafts. To save such campaigns for the future, simply unarchive the campaign and top up that campaign or the shared account.

Cannot add images

You are working from a smartphone or tablet

You cannot add images if you are accessing Yandex Direct from a mobile device. Please add images from your desktop or laptop computer.

You are working from a desktop computer or laptop

Please describe in detail the difficulties you entaged while adding images. If possible, please attach a screenshot.

Advertising start date

You can set the start date for your campaign on the campaign settings page. Automatic campaign launching will not work if, previously, the campaign had been manually stopped.

Ad text

Maximum number of characters including spaces:

Text & Image ads in unified performance campaigns
  • title — 56 characters (including spaces and punctuation marks), maximum 22 characters per word

  • additional title — 30 characters and 15 punctuation marks, maximum 22 characters per word (in some cases, ads may be displayed without the additional title)

  • ad text — 81 characters and 15 punctuation marks, maximum 22 characters per word (the ad text may be cut off depending on the display location)

  • link — 1024 characters (including protocol)

  • display link — 20 characters (not including the domain)

Product ads and catalog page ads in unified performance campaigns
  • ad text — 81 characters including spaces and 15 punctuation marks, maximum 23 characters per word
Ads for mobile apps
  • title — 56 characters (including spaces and punctuation marks), maximum 22 characters per word

  • ad text — 75 characters, maximum 23 characters per word

  • link — 1024 characters (including protocol)

  • tracking link — 1024 characters (including protocol)

Keywords

The number of keywords per group cannot exceed 200.

Maximum of 4096 characters per keyword phrase (including negative keywords). The “-!” operator is considered one character.

Maximum of 7 words per keyword phrase, excluding stop words.

Note

If there is a “!” or “+” in front of a stop word, it is no longer considered a stop word.

Negative keywords in a group

A list of negative keywords can contain a maximum of 4096 characters, not counting spaces. Maximum of 7 words per negative keyword.

Negative keywords in a campaign

A list of negative keywords can contain a maximum of 20,000 characters, not counting spaces. Maximum of 7 words per negative keyword.

Groups of ads

Maximum of 1000 groups per ad campaign.

Number of ads

Maximum of 50 ads per group.

Ad campaigns

Maximum of 3000 campaigns per account, of which no more than 1000 can be active (active campaigns are considered to be all campaigns not located in the archive).

Sites with disabled impressions

You can block ad impressions on specific content sites and in ad exchanges. You can add a maximum of 1000 entries to the blocked list (including sites, apps, and ad exchange partner sites). You disable impressions in Yandex search-related projects.

Advertising company profile on Yandex Services

The campaign appears in Yandex Direct after a specialist creates a promotion in Yandex Services. You can view the promotion parameters or edit them only in the specialist dashboard in Yandex Services. In Yandex Direct, you can only view a list of such campaigns and their costs.

Promoting restaurants in Yandex Eats

The campaign appears in Yandex Direct after you create a restaurant promotion in Yandex.Eats. You can view the promotion parameters or edit them only in the restaurant dashboard in Yandex Eats. In Yandex Direct, you can only view a list of such campaigns and their costs.

Channel promotion on PromoPages

A campaign appears in Yandex Direct after you create a channel promotion in PromoPages. If you run multiple campaigns for articles on PromoPages, all of them are shown as one campaign in Yandex Direct. You can view the promotion parameters or edit them only in your advertising dashboard. In Yandex Direct, you can only view the status of such campaign and its cost.

Promotion in Yandex Games

The campaign shows up in Yandex Direct after creating a game promotion on Yandex Games. You can only view or edit your promotion parameters in the Yandex Games console. In Yandex Direct, you can only view a list of such campaigns and their costs.
