Ad formats
The Yandex Advertising Network offers site owners a wide range of formats and options for configuring ad units.
What types of ad formats are there?
|
|
Text & Image ads: Universal ads automatically generated by the Smart Design technology. This technology determines which ad elements are most relevant for each user and your site. If needed, Smart Design can add an action button, text, sitelinks, or other ad elements. As a result, all ads generated by the Smart Design algorithm will look unique. |
|
|
Display advertising: Graphic images (banners). These are usually ads that draw users' attention but have no specific call to action. You can choose the size of units displayed on your site. However, you can't customize the appearance of the units. |
|
|
Video ads are short promotion videos. The size of the unit adapts to the container size on the site. |
|
|
Native banners are Text & Image ads with your own design. This format is only available for sites that have more than 150 million viewable impressions per month. You can customize the HTML and CSS settings to blend the Text & Image ads into your site. |
How to manage ad formats?
When you create a unit, the Use standard settings option is enabled by default. That means all available formats can be displayed in the unit (depending on the unit type).
If necessary, you can manage the available formats yourself:
-
Open the list of units and click Edit next to the desired one.
-
Under Format settings section, enable Configure the formats.
-
Change the set of formats in the unit: add new formats (additional Text & Image ads or a native banner) or disable the current ones (display or video ads). You can set individual parameters for Text & Image ads, such as the number of ads in the unit and the way they are placed.
-
Click Save. The changes take effect automatically (without reinstalling the code on the site) within 5–10 minutes after saving.
Alert
Change the format settings only if the standard unit settings are not suitable. Incorrect settings may result in a reduced number of ads displayed and consequently may reduce your revenue from the placement. We recommend that you conduct A/B tests before applying manual settings and carefully monitor your revenue.
You can analyze the efficiency of formats using the Show rate indicator (the ratio of the number of impressions to the number of served impressions shown as a percentage). It's displayed on the format card in the unit settings as well as in the statistical reports. To get more reliable data, start tracking the indicator value two weeks after the ad is launched.
