Floor Ad

A Floor Ad unit appears two seconds after the page is opened. It is fixed at the bottom of the screen on top of the site content. The user can close the ad at any time.

You can display the unit on both the desktop and mobile versions of the site. If you want the ad to appear on all devices, you need to create a separate unit for each version of the site.

Note

You can't place a Floor Ad and Top Ad on the same page.

Available ad formats

An ad rendering container is created automatically whenever a page with a Floor Ad unit is loaded. The size of the container depends on the user's screen and the ad format. There are different ad formats for the desktop and mobile versions of the site.

  • The width of the container is equal to the width of the screen. You can limit the width in the Adaptive with limitations and Fixed size settings.

  • The container height is 90 pixels.

The unit contains a preset of ad formats:

Adaptive  Text & Image ads

The ad adapts to the container size and completely fills it. The unit will display three designs for one to three ads. Three ads will be added by default. You can change this in the unit settings.

Media ads

By default, the following formats can be displayed:

  • Fixed formats: 728 × 90 and 970 × 90 pixels.

  • 100% × 90 pixel banners, where 100% is the width of the container.

  • Adaptive display ads that fully fit inside the container.

The unit contains a preset of ad formats:

Adaptive  Text & Image ads

The ad adapts to the container size and completely fills it. A container is created automatically. It has the following sizes:

  • The container width is equal to the length of the short side of the screen.

  • The container height is equal to 15% of the long side of the screen.

Media ads

A container is created automatically. It has the following sizes:

  • The container width is equal to the length of the short side of the screen.

  • The container height doesn't exceed 25% of the long side of the screen.

By default, the following formats can be displayed:

  • Fixed formats: 320 × 50 and 320 × 100 pixels. You can disable fixed formats in the ad unit settings.

  • 100% × 90, 100% × 120, 100% × 180, and 100% × 200 pixel banners. 100% refers to the width of the container.

  • Adaptive display ads that fully fit inside the container.

Video ads

A container is created automatically. It has maximum sizes:

  • The container width is equal to the width of the selected video.

  • The container height doesn't exceed 25% of the long side of the screen.

The minimum container size for displaying video ads is 320 × 180 pixels. If the resulting container is smaller, a Text & Image ad or display banner will be rendered instead.

If the container size meets the requirements, the video will start loading and then be shown. At the same time, the container adapts to the proportions of the video so that the video completely fits the unit.

How to create a Floor Ad unit

  1. In the Yandex Advertising Network interface, go to Ads on websites → Ad units and click New ad unit.

  2. Select the site that you want to create an ad unit for and click Next.

  3. Select the Floor Ad unit type.

  4. Enter a unit name to be used in the Yandex Advertising Network interface.

  5. Select the platform: Desktop or Mobile. If you want to display the unit on both platforms, create a separate unit for each of them.

  6. Set the CPM floor:

    • Maximum revenue: Determine the minimum cost of impressions automatically. With this option, you can effectively fill placements and maximize revenue for the site owner.

    • CPMV floor: Set your own minimum cost per thousand impressions based on a viewability check. The CPMV floor is set in rubles, US dollars, or euros. You can change the floor currency in your account settings.

      Alert

      Setting a CPMV floor can reduce the unit fill rate and, therefore, decrease your income.

  7. If necessary, specify the unit sizes: they will be applied to all formats within the unit. Select one of the options:

    • Adaptive: The unit size is limited only by the size of the framing container on the site. For Floor Ad, the container is created automatically:

      • In the desktop version, the container width is equal to the screen width and the container height is 90 pixels.

      • In the mobile version, the container width is equal to the length of the short side of the screen. The container height is 15% of the long side of the screen.

    • Adaptive with limitations: Enables you to set the maximum and minimum values for the unit height and width in pixels. In that case, when ads are selected, both the size of the container on the site and the limitations set in the Advertising Network interface are taken into account.

      If there is no set minimum value, the default ad sizes are used:

      • Desktop version: 90 pixels in height and no more than the specified maximum value in width.

      • Mobile version: At least 40% of the container in height and 70% of the container in width.

    • Fixed: Enables you to determine the exact unit size in pixels. The unit will only display ads of the specified size (provided that the unit size is smaller than the size of the container on the site).

    Note

    When selecting the Adaptive with limitations and Fixed sizes, take into account the size requirements of fixed display advertising ad formats. To display these formats, the unit size must exactly match or exceed the size of the display banner.

    For more information about the size requirements depending on the ad format, see Configuring unit sizes.

  8. Choose a theme: Dark or Light. The default option is Light theme. Dark theme units have a different background and color scheme for their text, frame, buttons, and other elements. The selected theme is applied to all ad formats within the unit.

  9. Choose how you want to configure ad formats:

    • Use standard settings: With this option, the unit will show Text & Image ads and display ads. The design of ads and impression parameters are determined automatically.

    • Configure the formats: With this option, you can see how the unit will display on screens of different sizes.

      Main design

      Main design applies to Adaptive  Text & Image ads. In the preview area, you can simulate how the unit is displayed on mobile devices of different sizes. To do this, fill in the Container field. You can select a value from the list or set the size yourself by selecting Custom. The ad adapts to the container size and completely fills it.

      Media ads

      Media ads are served automatically based on the unit size.

      You can't disable the format.

    • Use standard settings: When this option is selected, the unit will show ads of all available formats, including Text & Image ads, display ads, and video ads. The design of ads and impression parameters are determined automatically.

    • Configure the formats: With this option, you can disable video ads and see how the unit will display on screens of different sizes.

      Media ads

      Media ads are served automatically based on the unit size.

      You can't disable the format.

      Video ads

      Video ads are selected automatically based on the unit size. The minimum unit size for displaying video ads is 320 × 180 pixels. Video ads won't be displayed in smaller units (even if the format is enabled in the unit settings).

      To disable a format, set it to “Disabled” .

  10. Click Create. A window with the embed code will open. Use this code to place the ad unit on your site.

Once you save the ad unit, it will be assigned a unique identifier (ID). It consists of a product ID (R-A), site ID (site_id), and the unit's serial number.

How to add a Floor Ad unit to your site

  1. Get the embed code: create a new unit or click Get code in the settings of an existing unit.

  2. Copy the ad loader code to the clipboard and paste it inside the <head> tag on the page where you want to display a Floor Ad unit. The loader code is only embedded on the page once and is used to call all units of the Yandex Advertising Network.

  3. You can add the unit tag to <head> immediately after the ad loader or in <body> of the page.

    If you want to use Floor Ad units for desktop and mobile devices on a site with adaptive layout, add both unit codes one after another. Yandex Advertising Network will automatically request the code that matches the user's device.

    To check the site version and call the proper ad unit, you can add the Ya.Context.AdvManager.getPlatform() method to the embed code.

    Sample code for a Floor Ad unit on a site with adaptive layout
    <script>
      window.yaContextCb.push(() => {
          if (Ya.Context.AdvManager.getPlatform() === 'desktop') {
            // Calling a Floor Ad for the desktop version
            Ya.Context.AdvManager.render({
              blockId: 'A-B-123456-78',
              type: 'floorAd',
              platform: 'desktop',
            });
          } else {
            // Calling a Floor Ad for the mobile version
            Ya.Context.AdvManager.render({
              blockId: 'A-B-123456-79',
              type: 'floorAd',
              platform: 'touch',
            });
          }
      });
    </script>

    Alert

    When placing a Feed on pages with a Floor Ad or Top Ad unit, make sure to configure the deletion of these units when the Feed becomes visible. The ad unit placement requirements prohibit displaying a Feed and a Floor Ad or Top Ad on the same screen.

You can't set the size of your Floor Ad unit in the site layout. Even if you add the unit to a separate container, the height of this container will be ignored. You can only manage unit sizes using the Yandex Advertising Network interface.
