1. Introductions
First up—the Yandex office. We’ll show you around so you can see how everything works and what life is like for Yandex employees.
2. Paperwork
You’ll sign all the necessaries to complete your registration. Yandex staff will answer any questions you may have.
3. Setting up your workstation
Our ServiceDesk team will tell you all you need to know to get started with your work devices. And if you have any issues, they’ll always be on hand to help out.
4. Getting to know the team
Your manager will give you a tour of the office and your department. If they’re super busy that day, you’ll instead be looked after by your Buddy—a Yandex mentor assigned to you to help you settle in.
5. Food and drink
You’ll learn about the food allowance connected to your Yandex pass—how it works and where you can use it.
6. Your first tasks
So you’re at your desk, your laptop is set up, you’ve got yourself a coffee—it’s time to start your first tasks, which will be set by your manager.
If you work in Russia, but remotely
1. Getting your computer
Your laptop is already on its way, and will get to you on or before your first day. If you live in a far-flung place (a village in the Russian Far East for example), it may take a little longer, but rest assured—it’ll get to you.
2. Paperwork
In your first few days, you’ll be told when to expect your documents by courier, and where you’ll need to sign.
3. Introductions
Once you have your laptop, connect to Zoom. In your introductory meeting, you’ll find out about life and work at Yandex.
4. Setting up your workstation
The ServiceDesk team will explain how to set up your main work tools, and help if you run into any difficulties.
5. Your first tasks
When everything is set up, it’s time to get to know your manager and get started on your first tasks.
If you work from another country
1. Introductions
First stop—an introductory meeting where you’ll learn all about how we (and you now) live and work at Yandex.
2. Getting your computer
You can either pick your laptop up at the Yandex hub, or have it delivered to your home by courier. In the adaptation chat, we’ll tell you more about how this works in the country where you work.
3. Setting up your workstation
Meet the ServiceDesk team via Zoom and learn how to set up your work tools. You’ll also get some first-hand help if you experience any difficulties.
4. Paperwork
HR will be in touch soon to provide more details about the document signing process.
5. Your first tasks
Once everything is set up, you’re ready to meet your team and start your first tasks.

FAQs
Is there a dress code?
You can come in slippers, shorts, or fancy dress—whatever you feel like. Providing you do actually wear something.
Who’ll meet me at the office after my initial introductions?
Your manager, Buddy, or someone from the team. If your team is out of town, our admin managers will show you around.
What are the working hours at Yandex?

We have flexible working hours so it really depends on your team. We generally work until 7pm, but it’s best to discuss this with your manager. Especially if you’re a night owl (or other type of bird).
What documents should I bring?
Your employment record book (if in paper form) and your passport. If you’re starting work in a different country, we’ll let you know nearer the time.
How formally do staff address one another?
We maintain an informal communication style throughout the company. The exception is the coffee ladies, who we address with polite formality.
Do I need to bring a packed lunch?
You definitely won’t go hungry! Our coffee ladies keep the coffee points fully stocked with snacks throughout the day, and there are all kinds of eateries around the offices, where you can use the food allowance connected to your Yandex pass.
What mode of communication do you normally use—emails, calls, messengers, carrier pigeons?
We’re against the exploitation of pigeons so we use Telegram as our main messenger, and hold online meetings via Zoom. We also use email, but mainly for company news or communication with external partners.
